I am passionate about supporting women in their choice to breastfeed their babies. My own nursing years were a very special time in my life, and I would like to see women succeed in this ultimate gift of mothering. In my work as a doula and a lactation counselor I have seen an amazing variety in breastfeeding styles (see photo). My support is therefore unique for each mother-baby pair, and based on my own experiences as a nursing mother as well as on the outstanding formal training that I received in 2005 and in 2009 from the distinguished Healthy Children's Center for Breastfeeding. Services include free information,
private consultations in office or at home, and access to a pediatric baby
scale.
Please take advantage of the Birthing with Child Resource
Center, before or after the birth of your baby. There are many books,
pamphlets, and videos that can answer your questions or address your concerns,
and use of any materials is absolutely free! You can also find out about local
breastfeeding resources and support groups such as La Leche League.
I am available for house calls days, nights, weekends and holidays, too - because I understand that a mother and baby with a nursing problem just cannot wait! As a non-medical provider I do not give any medical advice but will refer you to your pediatric provider. However, the vast majority of breastfeeding difficulties can be corrected with a little patience, knowledge, and attention to babies’ and mothers’ particular needs. I carry a full line of specialized breastfeeding supplies with me, so if the need for any item arises I have it on hand. Fee for private Lactation Consultation: $ 30 / hour
A precision pediatric baby scale is a necessity for any practicing lactation
professional. It allows to calculate breast milk intake and closely monitor
weight gain. I own a Tanita® Digital Baby Scale that I will bring to lactation
home visits if the need arises. The scale is available for short-term rental
also. Use of the scale by parents is not a substitute for regular visits with a licensed
pediatric health care provider.
