Becoming a Doula

Hello! My name is Marianne Donch. I formed Birthing with Child Services in 2001 to provide women and families in the greater Bozeman area with access to information, inspiration, and professional services during the childbearing year.

I view conception, pregnancy, birth, and parenting as a unique opportunity for physical and spiritual growth and transformation, a very special time in a woman’s life. My goal as Childbirth Educator, Birth Doula, and Lactation Counselor is to help you achieve an empowering, beautiful birth. I would be honored to use my knowledge and experience to support your personal preferences and choices.

 About Me

Born and raised in Germany I first came to Bozeman to attend MSU as an exchange student in 1986. After returning home and earning my M.A. in Heidelberg I spent many years teaching German language classes to enlisted men and women and civilians, and later language and literature courses to college students in Germany and California. I got married, became a mother - and the real lessons of life began.

Giving birth to my two daughters held so much power, beauty and self discovery for me that I have been involved with birthing women and families ever since. When my children were out of the immediate baby stage I enrolled in a local doula training program in Albany, California, where we lived at the time. I completed very extensive  Birth Doula Certification as well as Childbirth Educator Certification programs with Birth & Bonding International

In 2001 we moved back to Bozeman, where my husband grew up. During the next two years I discovered DONA® International. DONA's philosophy turned out to perfectly match my own practice style. I decided to go through Birth Doula certification again, this time with DONA. I currently volunteer as the DONA Representative for Montana. In March 2006 I was approved as a DONA Birth Doula Trainer. I am delighted to work with both, expectant families as well as the special women who feel drawn to support the miracle of birth.

Living here in the Gallatin Valley, we enjoy the closeness of grandparents and family, the great outdoors, and a lot of space for us, the kids, and our Yellow Lab. When I am not at a birth or teaching a birth preparation class you will surely find me in my fledgling organic garden, sowing, cultivating or making lots of compost. And yes - if you see that little white VW Golf with the DOULA4U license plate around town - that’s me!
