About the Workshop

This 19-hour intensive training utilizes texts, research literature, visuals, props, videos, role-play, games, return-demonstrations, group discussion, partner exercises and other interactive teaching tools to build knowledge and skills relating to non-medical birth support.

This workshop had been approved as one step toward certification by DONA International.

IMPORTANT:

One of the DONA certification requirements is:

Complete one of the following:
A. Training in Childbirth Education or Midwifery
B. Work experience in Labor and Delivery as a Registered Nurse
C. Observation of a Childbirth Preparation series (not as an expectant parent),
or "Introduction to Childbearing" class offered in conjunction with an approved DONA birth doula workshop.

My 19-hour workshop posted above does NOT include the "Introduction to Childbearing" class.

In the near future Marianne will offer the "Introduction to Childbearing" class. It will be

bulletan all-day class;
bullettaught on the Thursday immediately preceding the 19-hour birth doula workshop;
bulletnot a pre-requisite for taking the 19-hour birth doula workshop;
bulletregistration and fees will be separate from the 19-hour birth doula workshop.
